Meet The Team
John Balhoff Ph.D., CEO
john.balhoff@pneuzene.com | Phone: TBD
Dr. John Balhoff has over 40 years of commercial process design experience in the chemical industry. He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University. He was employed by Ethyl Corporation (later Albemarle) for 35 years and performed numerous functions and was directly responsible for highly successful commercialization products. Dr. Balhoff was a Distinguished Advisor upon his retirement from Albemarle, having led commercialization of many new chemical processes in his career involving sulfur, phosphorus, bromine, chlorine, fluorine, boron, lithium, organometallics, and other complex chemistries. These products were marketed into diverse, global markets valued in the multi-billion dollars. Dr. Balhoff’s expertise is in developing innovative processes from lab to commercial scale using Process Intensification to significantly reduce capital and operating cost. He has co-invented twenty US patents.
Chuck Kolich Ph.D., VP of Product Dev
chuck.kolich@pneuzene.com | Phone: TBD
Dr. Charles Kolich has over 45 years of experience synthesizing industrial chemicals for commercialization covering several diverse markets. Dr. Kolich obtained a BS in Chemistry from Penn State University, and a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Southern Illinois University. He is an expert in polyphosphazene chemistry with18 years of direct polyphosphazene experience formulating commercial product lines for Albemarle Corporation (previously Ethyl Corp.). Dr. Kolich’s 36-year career with Albemarle encompasses many diverse commercial chemistries most notably asymmetric hydrogenation for S-ibuprofen production, process improvements for phosphorus based agricultural intermediates, and a novel selective aromatic bromination process leading to two environmentally-friendly product lines used as a flame retardant for thermoplastics. Dr. Kolich has 51 issued patents.
